Every Mirega product is built on the same component — a fiber Fabry-Perot microcavity — enabling two instruments: a high-finesse tunable optical filter, and a gas analyzer small enough to carry into the field.

Every Mirega product is built on the same component: a fiber Fabry-Perot microcavity, developed as a spin-off of the Atom Chips group at Laboratoire Kastler Brossel. That single cavity makes two very different instruments possible — an optical filter with a finesse few competitors reach, and a gas analyzer small enough to carry into the field.

Fiber Fabry-Perot Tunable Optical Filters

A tunable filter selects a single wavelength out of a broadband signal, and tunes across the spectrum on demand. Filter bandwidth follows the free spectral range divided by the finesse: a 1.5 THz cavity at a finesse of 30 000 gives a bandwidth of 50 MHz.

  • Wavelength range: 770 to 1660 nm in four standard bands (custom 700 to 2500 nm)
  • Free spectral range: 300 GHz to 10 THz
  • Finesse: 3 000 to 60 000
  • Transmission at extinction: −66 to −93 dB
  • First mechanical resonance: above 50 kHz
  • Single-mode fiber with FC/APC connectors, 10 x 4 x 3 cm, 160 g

Compact Gas Analyzer

Used as a spectroscopic cell, the same cavity measures CO2 down to the ppm range in an instrument that fits in one hand. Other molecules are available on request. The design targets a 15 x 12 x 6 cm housing under 1.2 kg, drawing 5 to 15 W.

OEM and custom configurations

Filters and analyzers are both available as OEM units, specified to the wavelength, free spectral range and finesse your instrument needs. Tell us the measurement you have to make and we will propose a configuration.

Choosing a filter

The models table lists every standard reference with its center wavelength, free spectral range, finesse and bandwidth. Units already held in stock ship with short lead times.
